Ms. Tenjiwe Nhlapo is a Counseling Psychologist at ACPN Abu Dhabi. She holds a Master of Social Sciences in Counselling Psychology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (2011), and is currently a PhD (Human Sciences) candidate at the same institution. Her academic foundation also includes an Honors and Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is registered with the Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi, Community Development Authority (CDA) Dubai, and the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
With over 14 years of clinical experience, Ms. Nhlapo worked across diverse settings in South Africa and the UAE, including private practice, hospitals, fertility clinics, and multidisciplinary mental health centers. She has extensive experience providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults, conducting psychological assessments, risk evaluations, and treatment planning. She worked with renowned institutions in Dubai including Insights Psychology DMCC and Thrive Wellbeing Center for 3 years before joining ACPN in 2026. Her experience covers outpatient and inpatient care, therapy and rehabilitation intervention planning, employee wellness interventions, trauma debriefing, parent and family counseling, and school-based mental health programs. Her roles involved close multi-disciplinary collaboration with psychiatrists, physicians, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational professionals.
Ms. Nhlapo’s areas of expertise include managing anxiety and depression, ADHD, autism, trauma-related disorders, family counseling. She has a special interest in supporting individuals and couples navigate family planning, infertility, and assisted reproductive technologies. Her therapeutic approach involves evidence-based techniques ranging from CBT, DBT, EMDR, in a culturally responsive, neurodiversity-affirming, and client-centered manner. She places a strong emphasis on emotional safety, mindfulness, and collaboration to achieve long-term psychological wellbeing.
