Dr. Muath Alzarooni is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at ACPN Abu Dhabi. He earned his MBBCh with honors from University of Sharjah, UAE (2012), followed by Arab Board certification in General Psychiatry at SKMC (2018). He then completed dual clinical fellowships—in ADHD at McGill University Health Centre, Montreal (2019), and in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa (2022). He is dual licensed with DoH Abu Dhabi as a Consultant Psychiatrist, and Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist.
With over a decade of psychiatric practice, Dr. Alzarooni held progressive roles at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Abu Dhabi, from Psychiatry Resident through Specialist Psychiatrist to Division Lead. Prior to joining ACPN in 2025, he held the position of Clinical Lead of the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Division at SKMC’s Behavioral Science Pavilion since 2023. He received subspecialist training in institutions including the Montreal Children’s Hospital, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), and the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. His experience spans comprehensive assessment and evidence-based treatment through psychopharmacology, CBT, ERP, habit-reversal training—to children and youth across mood, anxiety, neurodevelopmental and co-occurring substance-use disorders. With a strong background in medical administrative leadership, he supervised medical students and psychiatry residents in both SKMC and the University of Ottawa. He leads efforts in advancing academic and clinical standards in the Emirates through his ongoing contributions to research, academics, and clinical administrative efforts through his role as the President of the UAE ADHD Chapter established under the Emirates Medical Association.
Dr. Alzarooni specializes in ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, OCD, early psychosis and trauma-informed care. He has extensive experience in management of autism, chronic pain, gender-dysphoria and partial-hospitalization programs, as well as crisis-intervention in emergency settings. He is passionate about multidisciplinary collaboration such as school partnerships, social work, speech and occupational therapy to deliver holistic, culturally sensitive interventions.
