Ms. Lize Rooi is a Speech Therapist at ACPN Abu Dhabi. She holds a Master’s degree in Augmentative and Alternative Communication earned in 2020 from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, and a Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2006 from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Moreover, she completed professional certifications in PECS level 1, SCERTS level 1, and K-SLP to enhance her practice. She is licensed by the DoH, Abu Dhabi and is a registered member of the HPC, South Africa.
With over 18 years of clinical experience, Ms. Rooi worked across hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and pediatric clinics. Her experience in inpatient and outpatient intervention was at Tygerberg Academic Hospital, South Africa (2010-2017) covering early intervention, feeding and swallowing management (including VFS and PEG-related cases), and supervising students and trainees. Upon moving to Abu Dhabi in 2017, she joined Mohammed bin Rashid Center operated by NECC, followed by Aspris Wellbeing Center, Abu Dhabi in 2023. Her role spanned school-based and center-based therapy working on receptive and expressive language delay, articulation and phonology, social-communication deficit, early intervention and IEP, as well as multidisciplinary collaboration with educational and medical settings.
Ms. Rooi specializes in working with conditions including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, developmental delays, childhood apraxia of speech, speech sound disorders, stuttering, early speech, language, and literacy development. She has extensive expertise in low- and high-tech AAC systems including Proloquo2Go, Touch-Chat, and the Picture Exchange Communication System. She applies evidence-based care centered around the client’s and their family’s needs to promote functional communication and improve their quality of life.
