Dr. Rafia Rahim is a Consultant Psychiatrist at ACPN Al Ain. She earned her MBBS from Trivandrum Medical College, Kerala, India (1983) and she is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych), UK. She is also a holder of the Arab Board certification in Psychiatry. She specialized in Pediatrics with a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) in 1992. She is a licensed consultant psychiatrist with DoH, Abu Dhabi.
With over 28 years of experience in adult psychiatry. Dr. Rahim began her psychiatry career at Al Ain Hospital in 1997, serving for over two decades at Al Ain Hospital. She held multiple leadership roles, including Lead of Female Adult Inpatient Services and Specialist Lead of Community Mental Health. She also played an instrumental role in JCIA accreditation efforts and trained medical interns and psychiatry residents adding to her expertise in academic mentorship and service excellence. From 2021 to 2024, she worked as Consultant Psychiatrist at Medcare Hospital, Dubai, providing outpatient psychiatric services and supporting emergency and inpatient care. Prior to her career in psychiatry, she practiced as a pediatrician before moving to the UAE in 1994 to work on her psychiatry specialization alongside her role in pediatric unit at Al Ain Hospital.
Dr. Rahim treats a wide range of psychiatric conditions including mood disorders, anxiety, schizophrenia, psychotic disorders, OCD, ADHD, and adolescent mental health concerns for client aged 14 and above. Her approach combines deep clinical knowledge with a touch of empathy and care, aiming at enabling patients toward long-term mental wellness. Dr. Rahim is recognized for her holistic, culturally sensitive approach, focused on working with families and multidisciplinary teams.
