Ms. Maisoon Shah is a Psychologist at ACPN. She completed a Master’s degree in Health Psychology from the University of Bath in 2020 and Bachelor’s in Clinical Psychology from the University of Kent in 2018. She holds an active membership at the Health and Care Professional Council UK, and British Psychological Society, and is a CDA-licensed psychologist in Dubai.
She brings over five years of clinical experience working alongside adolescents up to the geriatric population. Born and raised in Dubai, Ms. Shah deeply understands the socio-cultural dynamics of individuals from varied backgrounds and nations, harboring an all-inclusive and receptive approach to mental health. Having completed her post-graduate studies and clinical training from the UK in 2020, she worked in both private and government facilities there including facilities for pain management and neurorehabilitation as Assistant Psychologist until 2020. She also worked at Al Marmoom Initiative in Dubai until 2019. Before joining ACPN, her last appointment was at Lifeworks Counselling Center in 2023 as a Psychologist.
Ms. Shah has worked closely with individuals on their mental health concerns arising from chronic diseases, stress, disability, and women’s sexual health; and is skilled in treatment of borderline personality disorder, depression & mood disorders, anxiety disorders – including phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, gender discrimination, grief and loss, trauma, adjustment disorders, anger management, health related distress, and interpersonal & relationship difficulties. She is certified to provide Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. She also holds a keen interest in horse riding and its therapeutic benefits. As an advocate of people of determination, she facilitates support groups for parents and siblings that also incorporate equine activities for increased self-awareness, resilience, and emotional growth.
