Ms. Nimi Tomy is a Psychologist at ACPN. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Avinashilingam University, India in 2012 and her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Mahatma Gandhi University, India in 2014. Ms. Tomy continued her path of professional development in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She is a licensed psychologist in Abu Dhabi and India.
Ms. Tomy has been working as a psychologist in the UAE since 2018 assessing and diagnosing psychological disorders, and providing therapeutic interventions to children, adolescents, and adults. Prior to joining ACPN in 2022, she worked as Clinical Psychologist at centers such as KidsHeart Medical Center, Abu Dhabi and Al Fasht Medical Center, Sharjah. Her experience spans both in clinical and educational settings supporting assessment & diagnosis, treatment & educational plans for children and adolescents at various centers for Autism in India. Starting her initial years as a Psychologist in India, Ms. Tomy gained four years of experience leading special academic units, training professionals in mental health and disorder management teams, as well as parents of children of determination.
Her expertise includes treating psychological and neurological disorders in children. Her special interests include assessments and therapeutic interventions for childhood disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Selective Mutism, Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Conduct Disorder in children, and Anxiety and Depressive Disorders in adolescents and adults. Ms. Tomy carries out psychometric assessments including Weschler Scales- WPPSI-IV, WISC-V, WAIS- IV, WIAT-III, Conners- III, CBCL, BASC-III, MMPI-2, CARS-2, and ADOS-2. Her diverse skillset includes working on Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for organizations in the UAE enabling mental health awareness in the workplace. With a keen interest in medical academics, she has her research published on topics including COVID-19 impact on children of determination, and other projects focused on mental health and coping strategies for adults during the COVID-19 pandemic.
