Dr. Suhair Abbas is a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist at ACPN. Upon completing her medical graduation, she went on to specialize in the field of psychiatry. Following her membership with the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK in 2004, her training culminated in the achievement of CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2008. Dedicating herself to the field of Psychiatry in children and adolescents, Dr. Abbas was granted a fellowship from the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK in 2021. Additionally, she trained further achieving an advanced diploma in DBT in 2021. She is a licensed child psychiatrist in Abu Dhabi’s DOH and the GMC, UK.
With a track record spanning over fifteen years at the consultant level, Dr. Abbas has over two decades of experience working in the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK, complemented by an additional six years of private practice with the Priory Group. Serving as a lead consultant psychiatrist and an educational and clinical supervisor for trainee psychiatrists, Dr. Abbas is committed to leading professional development of her peers. Dr. Abbas has made significant contributions to the field through research where her role was in developing pathways and services for eating disorders, ADHD, ASD, and Tourette’s throughout her career in the United Kingdom. Her experience includes working at noteworthy hospitals including Al Jalila Hospital in Dubai, where she actively participated in managing complex mental health cases and contributed to the development of mental health services.
Her passion and dedication to working with children and adolescents are evident in her particular interest in neurodevelopmental conditions during adolescence and their interface with, overlap, and comorbidities with mental health difficulties. Dr. Abbas is renowned for her success stories, where patients have experienced remarkable improvements in their mental health through rigorous assessment, engagement, and a holistic understanding of their needs, encompassing both neurodevelopmental and psychosocial aspects.
