Dr. Samer El Hayek is a Specialist Psychiatrist at ACPN. He earned his MD from the American University of Beirut (AUB), completed a clinical psychiatry residency at AUB Medical Center (AUBMC), and pursued a fellowship in addiction psychiatry at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System in 2022. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Healthcare Management from the Swiss Business School and holds a Scholars in HeAlth Research Program (SHARP) Diploma from AUB. He is licensed psychiatrist with the DOH in Abu Dhabi.
With over three years of experience in addiction psychiatry, Dr. El Hayek specializes in managing dual diagnoses, integrating motivational interviewing, medication-assisted treatment, and neuromodulation techniques like transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). He has worked with diverse populations, including veterans, and vulnerable communities, offering a multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach. Dr. El Hayek has experience in medical academics as an adjunct assistant professor of clinical psychiatry at AUBMC, mentoring medical trainees. He treats a wide range of mental health conditions, including substance use disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, and personality disorders, with a focus on substance use and mood-related challenges.
Dr. El Hayek has over 60 peer-reviewed publications, with his work garnering 2,000+ citations and an h-index of 22. He serves as an editorial board member for Frontiers in Public Health and Current Psychopharmacology, and represents the Eastern Mediterranean Region in the Network of Early-Career Professionals Working in Addiction Medicine (NECPAM). His contributions to mental health and addiction research have earned him numerous accolades, including the 2023 Yearly Research Contribution Award from Erada Center, Dubai.
